In 1972, They Only Come Out At Night by The Edgar Winter Group was a pretty shocking album cover. I discovered the music by hearing the monster hit singles Frankenstein and Free Ride on the radio, but upon seeing the album cover, I just had to hear the rest of the music lurking within. Like many records back then, this one was chock full of deep cuts and great songs throughout both sides. Among my favorites were Undercover Man, Hangin’ Around, When It Comes, and We All Had A Real Good Time. The band was tight and featured some great guitar work from Ronnie Montrose and Rick Derringer, and basically this album was some fun party time music, really nothing to be scared of at all.
