Spring Session M by Missing Persons came out at the onset of the MTV era in 1982 and featured the often scantily clad lead singer Dale Bozzio wearing unusual fashion choices of her own design. Looking back, I can’t help but wonder if Lady Gaga didn’t take notice of these outfits and draw her own inspirations from them. But this isn’t about fashion, it’s about music, and Missing Persons had bona fide pedigrees, coming from Frank Zappa’s band in the case of drummer/leader Terry Bozzio (Dale’s husband at the time), guitarist Warren Cuccurullo (later of Duran Duran), and bassist/keyboardist Patrick O’ Hearn (who went on to a successful solo career in ambient music). There were 4 singles released from this album, and several videos garnered a lot of views on MTV. My favorites include Destination Unknown, Tears, Windows, Noticeable One, and Words. I even got to see Missing Persons live when I visited a friend in L.A. back in 1984 and they were a fantastic live band. Great memories from an interesting time in musical history.
