Influences And Recollections of a Musical Mind

One of my favorite all-time live albums is Strangers In The Night by UFO. Released in 1979, this classic slab of ’70’s hard rock was in constant rotation in my music library for several years due to the incendiary lead playing of Michael Schenker on this disc. Honestly, the entire band killed it on this collection of some of the band’s best material, like Lights Out, Doctor Doctor, Too Hot To Handle, Only You Can Rock Me, and the face melting lead guitar showcase of Rock Bottom. The band’s singer, Phil Mogg, not only has a fantastic singing voice, but he writes far above average lyrics and melodies, setting UFO apart from a crowded pack. I was fortunate to see them open for Rush around the time this album was released. A band I was in used to crank this music through our PA system at our band practices when we would take a break, and I think some of my hearing began its descent into tinnitus at that time! UFO rocks!
