Ah, Lita Ford…she (along with her band The Runaways) entered my consciousness (and my libido!) in my teenage years. In 1987 she put out this fine solo album bearing her first name as a title, and proved convincingly that she could rock with any dude in any hair band that was popular at the time. Lita recorded this one with Pat Benatar’s rhythm section, co-wrote songs with Lemmy and Nikki Sixx and sang a duet with Ozzy Osbourne (the magnificent Close My Eyes Forever). Ozzy’s wife Sharon was Lita’s manager, so getting the Ozz-man was probably pretty easily accomplished. Lita shot a great video for that song in addition to the other big hit from this album, Kiss Me Deadly. Sure, she used her looks to her advantage, but so did Poison and Whitesnake! Lita gets lots of credit for her fine guitar playing, but she has a killer singing voice, too. She proved this on cuts like Broken Dreams, Falling In And Out Of Love, Blueberry, and Back To The Cave (with a ripping guitar solo as a bonus). Lita is still out touring and tearing it up on stages to this day…and still gorgeous as ever.
