Johnny Winter: Guitar Slinger

Texas albino blues guitar legend Johnny Winter released Guitar Slinger in 1984, his first recording for Alligator Records.

Johnny chose to focus on a more pure blues approach for this album and was rewarded with a Grammy nomination.

Guitar Slinger features a wide range of blues styles and emotions and is supported by a solid band of players to complement Winter’s blazing guitar and his alternately scorching and crooning vocal approach.

Some of my favorites from this record include Don’t Take Advantage Of Me, Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye, Lights Out, Boot Hill, Iodine In My Coffee, Trick Bag, and It’s My Life, Baby. Great album by a seriously skilled blues legend.
