Influences And Recollections of a Musical Mind

T. Rex: The Slider

During the early 1970’s Glam Rock trend, there was a band from England called T. Rex. Led by the charismatic Marc Bolan,

T. Rex released a string of gigantic hit albums in the U.K., and had a decent amount of success in the states, especially with the song Bang A Gong (Get It On).

Their album The Slider (1972) was one I picked up out of the bargain bin at the mall one day and basically fell in love with the odd, but irresistible tunes that Bolan effortlessly wrote.

Some of my personal favorites from The Slider include the excellent title track, Metal Guru, Baby Boomerang, Buick Mackane, Rabbit Fighter, Ballrooms Of Mars, Rock On, and Mystic Lady.

If you are a fan of David Bowie and Elton John, check out T. Rex…you won’t be disappointed.
