Psychedelic Lunch

Welcome to our “Psychedelic Lunch” series, “Celebrity Bands Week,” where we find out how deep the rabbit hole really goes and explore music from the 60’s to today. Weekdays At Noon EST. Enjoy the trip!

We’ve seen Juliette Lewis in many great films over the years but did you know she was in a rock band?

I first became aware of Juliette Lewis’s musical talent from the movie ‘Strange Days’. It was to be 10 years later that she’d form a rock band, and to my delight I discovered a very strong resonance with her energy.

I listened to her entire catalog of music, both with The Licks and her solo material, and watched every live performance on YouTube. The way my inner energy was consistently amped up beyond my expectations was enough to revel in the idea of seeing her live but then the global pandemic happened which would postpone all live shows indefinitely.

Here’s a brief history of the band.

Juliette and The Licks is an American rock band led by actress and singer Juliette Lewis. Other band members have included guitarist Craig Fairbaugh and guitarist Emilio Cueto, bassist Jason Womack and drummer Ed Davis. Their popular songs include “You’re Speaking My Language” and “Hot Kiss”. The band broke up in 2009. They reunited for a Los Angeles show in 2015, followed by extensive touring in 2016. In June of 2016, Juliette Lewis announced a solo tour leaving the future of The Licks undetermined. In May 2018 members of the band tweeted that they were in the studio working on new music as Juliette And The Licks.

Since disbanding Juliette and the Licks in 2009, Juliette Lewis has focused mostly on her Hollywood career but the music keeps calling her back.

In my humble opinion I think Juliette Lewis would be the perfect candidate to play the part of Janis Joplin in a rock bio pic of her life. Heres hoping!
