Evanescence: Fallen

This selection may qualify as a guilty pleasure, but I really don’t care. I love Amy Lee’s voice, so 2003’s debut (Fallen) by her band Evanescence makes my list on the soaring wings of her glorious vocal chords.

To be fair, I’m a bit of a sucker for all things goth, be it fashion, movies, or especially music, so Evanescence scores points musically for the theatrical grandeur of some of the power ballads and even the crunch of some of their nu-metal riffs.

But without Lee, I doubt I would still be listening to this too much.

Thankfully, Fallen is all about utilizing that hypnotically beautiful instrument that Amy Lee possesses.

The songs Hello, My Immortal, Whisper, Haunted, My Last Breath, Going Under, Imaginary, and Bring Me To Life sound gigantic, with just the right amount of space between the quiet and the grandeur of the lush production.

Guilty pleasure? Yeah, I’m guilty…fight me!
