This is the first official music video we have released, so indeed some thought went into this. Instead of having us filmed at some dodgy location with instruments not even plugged in, we did something different, in the true tradition of the band. We hired Johan Bååth (Watain etc) as a director and we also were lucky enough to get the infamous Swedish graffiti Artist Ziggy Jonas Rasmusson to do his ritualistic paintings for the video. “

Producer Tore Stjerna states the following:

It’s a very strong track with tons of energy. It also stands out in an interesting way with its hints towards industrial music. The insanity of this roller-coaster ride of a song marries beautifully with the twisted art featured in the video.”

This is what director Johan Bååth has to say about this work of art:

When I was asked to do the very first Mayhem music video,  I thought I really had to do something more than just a plain Black Metal video, I wanted to take it one step further and do something different but stay true to the genre and of course Mayhem’s iconic legacy as a band. I thought of the artist Ziggy Jonas Rasmusson and his ritualistic paintings and I asked him if he wanted to participate. Together we came up with this idea of a ritualistic painted pentagon-shaped room, completely surrounded by five painted walls, facing a centered pentagram-painting with Ziggy´s ”hex-text” signs and symbols all over, each of the five point corners symbolizing human expiration.

In the middle we see an organic neoplasm tumor-like shaped form, all muddy and dirty with wooden branches ensnared around it. The surreal and scary-looking outgrowth is almost breathing with dark energy, attached to several plastic tubes connected to five cloaked characters symbolizing the five members of Mayhem. They´re completely occupied with different ritual tasks destroying all humanity and contributing matter and dark energy to the demon creation in the middle.”

MAYHEM: REVEAL COVER AND BONUS CONTENT OF LIMITED BOX SET FOR NEW ALBUM “DAEMON”

Mayhem and Abbath have been announced as the headliners for the 2020 Decibel Magazine tour. The black metal pair will tour North America for one month at the end if winter.

Norwegian black metal legends (and true) Mayhem have been making the rounds promoting their Daemon album, which will be released Nov. 8. As for former Immortal frontman Abbath, the newest album from his solo endeavor, Outstrider, was unveiled earlier this year.

The tour will begin March 13 in Denver, Colo. and conclude April 10 in Chicago, Ill. Supporting acts for the string of dates will be announced in December.

“[Euronymous] didn’t give me any room to grieve,” bassist Necrobutcher recently told Knot Wire about the suicide of vocalist Dead, which was documented by Euronymous in famously gruesome photos. “I was very mad at him, so when he was killed — he was my best friend for 10 years — I never cried over his death. Actually, I thought maybe the cops would think it was me who did it, because I had plans to kill him myself.”

MAYHEM + ABBATH ANNOUNCE 2020 CO-HEADLINING TOUR

Century Media Records has announced the signing of Norwegian black metal forefathers MAYHEM to a worldwide deal. The band’s sixth album will be released on October 25.

Founded in 1984, MAYHEM has released five studio albums as well as a number of demos, EPs and live albums since. Their debut full-length, “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” (1994), is considered by many to be the most influential black metal album of all time. Having left behind the controversy surrounding its early years, MAYHEM continued to push boundaries and can nowadays be considered one of the most innovative forces of extreme metal and sinister art, which applies to both their live shows and their recent studio recordings.

The band comments: “Once again, MAYHEM is writing a new chapter in its 35-year history. We are excited to now have joined forces with Century Media and are eager to see what this partnership can do for us both in the future.”

Soon after the release of the new MAYHEM album, the band will embark on a European headline tour with special guests GAAHLS WYRD and GOST.

MAYHEM‘s fifth full-length album, “Esoteric Warfare”, came out in on May 2014 via Season Of Mist. The follow-up to 2007’s “Ordo Ad Chao” was mixed at Mølla Studio in Gjerstad, Norway.

MAYHEM has gone through many lineup changes due to various circumstances. Therefore, even the loss of guitarist Blasphemer, who decided to focus on his other band AVA INFERI in 2008, did not stop the band. Activities mainly revolved around live shows, until the right balance was found again with the recruitment of Morten “Teloch” Iversen. The guitarist had already made a name for himself with NIDINGR, which is highly regarded among black metal enthusiasts yet remained mostly an underground phenomenon.

MAYHEM is:

Necrobutcher – Bass
Hellhammer – Drums
Attila Csihar – Vocals
Teloch – Guitar
Ghul – Guitar
