NECRONOMICON‘s new album “UNUS” is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambiance, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIRSEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. About:
Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch” in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. NECRONOMICON have a well-earned reputation for quality by releasing material only when ready and satisfied with the outcome ever since their demo entitled ‘Morbid Ritual’ (1992) firmly established their name within the underground. ‘The Silver Key”EP (1996) led to mainstream recognition on a national level, but their debut album ‘Pharaoh Of Gods” (1999) and the sophomore ‘The Sacred Medicines’ (2003) did even more to establish the band as a household name in Canada.

‘Return Of The Witch’ (2010) marked the international break-through for NECRONOMICON, and saw them performing at prestigious festivals such as Inferno (Norway), Ragnarok (Germany), and the Barge To Hell metal cruise among others, while sharing stages with acts such as CRADLE OF FILTHDIMMU BORGIR, BEHEMOTH, and MORBID ANGEL, to name but a few. Their steady advance around the globe grew considerably in impact by their next full-length “Rise Of The Elder Ones” (2013). By the time the band released ‘Advent Of The Human God’ (2016), they were met with international critical acclaim. Now, with ‘Unus’ out October 18, 2019, the band show that they aren’t slowing down and are ready to deliver another vicious strike! Prepare for the darkness to envelop you. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honor for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac-St-Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honor.

“Best moments of BEHEMOTH and symphonic death à la GODFLESH APOCALYPSE while remaining entirely Necronomicon.” – Bravewords

“Advent of the Human God is a truly diverse album, perfectly balancing plenty of atmosphere with their iconic chugging riffs and pummelling blast beats.” – Exclaim!

“Advent of the Human God boasts both a Behemoth-like epic savage grace and Dimmu-esque orchestral pomp. But it also delivers a more primal ferocity and maintains the thematic air that has become Necronomicon’s forte” – Metal Rules

“”Their sound is akin to an Anti-Christ infant spawned from the blasphemous union of Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth.”” – Metal Underground

“The drums crash like Nordic avalanches on tracks like “Alchemy of the Avatar.” With its blazing jugular seeking guitar riffs and crazed piano breaks over top double kick drum insanity, this last song makes for a perfect ending to a blistering listen.” – Beatroute (AB)

“‘Necronomicon opened the show with a thoroughly impressive display of symphonic death metal… The best way to describe them would be a symphonic version of Winds of Creation-era Decapitated, with perhaps some Vital Remains mixed in. Lots of cool grooves and hair spinning moments!’” – Metal Injection (Live Review)

Third Chamber has been lurking around the Calgary metal scene for years, biding their time and working tirelessly to bring to you their debut EP “Harvesting Our Decay” on November 22, 2019.

The greasy and chugging death metal is a myriad of genre flavours taking into account the styles and influences of the five musicians who have been gracing stages for decades in their other projects and bands. Now they have come together to produce a mechanical blackened sound with lyrical content that is not for the faint of heart. The band explains:

“Lyrically the songs are based on the current politicized state of the world. Environmentally, economically and socially everything is used by the beating drums of those in power to maintain control and their position. Musically we are aiming to help you cope with said issues by providing an aggressive yet melodic 25 minutes of blackened death metal sure to make you drive faster and work out harder and maybe even help people realize that a 1st world problem is the least of their problems.”

The five-song EP is introduced with the title track as a single which takes a look at how humanity is destroying the environment with constant wars, exploitation of natural resources and endless pollution. As the band quips:

“We’re f*cked and won’t survive the earth once the healing truly begins.”

Watch the ‘Harvesting Our Decay’ lyric video via its exclusive premiere on Ghost Cult Mag HERE.

With influences primarily being old school death metal, Third Chamber adds a spatter of modern death metal aesthetics to the tune of Black Dahlia Murder, Suffocation, At the Gates, Misery Index and a touch of Napalm Death.

EP pre-order here. (Digital, CD and a limited quantity of hand-numbered cassettes)

Third Chamber will be playing live in Alberta in November and December. Don’t forget your earplugs.

About:

Comprised of several musicians with a long history in Calgary’s metal scene, Third Chamber is cooking up a new, yet familiar death metal sound that will nourish even the pickiest of metal enthusiasts.

With death being the main ingredient in their metal melting pot, hints of grindcore and hardcore also stand out amidst flavours of politically charged lyrics. Third Chamber is not music for the soft, besides being musically ferocious, the lyrical content is a brutal reflection of the current state of the world. From negative motivations of religious organizations, the effects of social media on mental distress, the ever-growing pride of ignorance, the exploitation of our natural resources for the profit of the wealthy and the manipulation and lack of actual truth in most media consumed by the ever-growing bewildered herd.

In 2019, Third Chamber is releasing their debut five-track EP “Harvesting Our Decay”.

About:Born in 1989, singer, songsmith and multi-instrumentalist Morgan Rider had his earliest imaginings of life as a musician while contending with an often tumultuous childhood. Overhearing his mother – who is a trained operatic soprano – his love and understanding of music blossomed at an early age. Morgan eventually spending his adolescent and early adult years performing in touring metal bands – appearing on tours and large festivals across North America and Europe.

During the summer of 2017, Morgan’s adoration of folk, classical and blues music finally culminated into a project and the beginnings of a collection of songs. The name Deep Dark River had been stuck in his head for years, as a byproduct of his writings and alluding to the very nature of his ideas as a musician and artist. As such, Deep Dark River became the name by which he would perform beneath.

While his ideas began to take form, so did his mindset for what became the early stages of Deep Dark River. In March of 2018, the first original Deep Dark River single ‘The Golden Bough’ was released digitally worldwide. Morgan began performing live and also toured solo to the Canadian east coast to promote the single. In the summer of 2018, the debut album Deep Dark River was released and supported with a full Canadian solo tour over 5 weeks.

As 2018 neared its end, Morgan called upon his friend Nathen Morrison to contribute cello to the sounds of Deep Dark River, solidifying the project as a duo. The pair immediately began rehearsing and recording the first of a four-album quadrilogy – which Morgan had written the bulk of on his travels. The first single featuring the pair – Starfire – was released in March of 2019 along with the album “King of The Forest” released on June 21st, 2019 via North Soul Records. Not slowing down, the pair have their next album just months later “The Deep Dark Blue” planned for release via North Soul Records on November 22nd, 2019 with its lead single ‘The Seafaerers’.

Death Atlas

Cattle Decapitation have never shied away from confronting the awfulness wrought upon the natural world by the human race, and Death Atlas is their bleakest offering to date. The cover art says it all: a stooped, skeletal Grim Reaper carrying the burnt-out husk of our planet on his back. “The core concept of this record is humanity’s insignificance despite what we’ve convinced ourselves,” explains vocalist Travis Ryan. “That’s kind of why this album cover takes place in space, to remind you that ‘the universe always finds a way to purge’. In the grand scheme of things, our species is merely a fleeting thought.” This imagery is backed up with a ferocious soundtrack, which includes elements of death metal, grindcore, black metal, sludge, doom, drone – with Ryan’s vocals broader and more fully realized than ever before.

Produced once again by Dave Otero (http://www.flatlineaudio.com), Death Atlas also features a number of guests: Laure Le Prunenec (Igorrr, Ricinn), Riccardo Conforti (Void of Silence), Dis Pater (Midnight Odyssey), Jon Fishman (Phish) – plus, brass instrumentalists from Ottone Pesante. The end result of these experimentations and collaborations is one of the most devastating records of 2019, and it demands an emotional response.

As the band prepares to tour and hopefully reach places they have yet play, what Ryan wants listeners to take away from Death Atlas is clear: “I want people to be shocked into thinking more about their futures, their loved ones, the pain they’re potentially subjecting their future generations to. Everyone just seems to live in the now with no care for tomorrow, and that’s incorrect thinking, as far as today goes. Don’t make tomorrow a cancelled check.”

Rapper Uses Cattle Decapitation’s Album Cover Art For Mixed Tape & The Band Turns It Into A Shirt

L-R: Nick Schwartz (Guitar), Tim Tymo (Vocals & Guitar), Marc Durie (Drums), Harlen Jacobs (Bass) – Photo by Dana Zuk

Edmonton’s Tymo have fleshed out a new single ‘Sanity Clause’ ,which is being premiered exclusively via Bravewords at the following link HERE.

This single is the first release from the band since their 2017 album “Purge and Reset” and they are fired up to get this new single to ears! They quote with enthusiasm:

“We hope that people are as excited to hear what we’ve come up with as we are to put it out! We can never know for sure how people will respond to our music, but we’re excited to see what people think!”

Influenced by thrash heavyweights including MegadethSlayer and Municipal Waste, the single is their first that will depart from the melodic end of the metal spectrum exhibiting more speed, energy and technicality that is akin to the traditional thrash sound. In their own words:

“It’s a fast, skull crushing song, which tells the story of one not being able to escape their consciousness. When the obstacles in life become too hard, they take their own life only to realize it’s much worse in the afterlife and the consequences are worse.”

What started as a solo project for Tim Tymo evolved into a full-fledged band with the addition of Nick Schwartz, Harlen Jacobs and Marc Durie. They describe their sound eloquently by coining it as a ‘golden shower of thrash metal’ and citing that this single is a taste of what’s to come on the upcoming album the thrashers have chosen nine songs that they think will stand out the best and are stoked to be releasing them soon.

Metalheads get ready! This single comes out October 4, 2019 on all music platforms.

BIO:

They will fill you up with “nice juicy riffage”, some critics have stated about Tymo: a band whose attitude lives to the title of their debut album “Purge & Reset”. Lead guitarist and vocalist Tim Tymo explains that the origin of the title is more than words; it is a statement of lost faith in humanity. “Let’s just say we have a creator or superior being. If this being gave up everything we needed to flourish and returned to see all the wars and corruption, it would want to wipe the slate clean and start over. Hence…PURGE AND RESET!”

Formed in Edmonton in 2015, Tymo is comprised of Tim Tymo as the lead guitarist and vocalist, Nick Schwartz on rhythm guitar, Harlen Jacobs on bass, and Marc Durie on drums.

Tymo was among Edmonton’s finalists in the Wacken Metal Battle Canada contest: a battle of the bands with the goal of playing in the Wacken Open Air music festival in Germany. They have played with bands such as Ninjaspy, Mortillery, Hazzerd, W.M.D., and Thor. Inspired by Municipal WasteMegadethSlayer, Bonded by Blood, and Metallica, Tim Tymo describes the band’s sound as “loud, angry, and explosive thrash”. Tymo has a serious mission to entertain their fans. “We love writing and performing, and we all share a common passion for thrash metal. We wanted to reference our heroes and mix up that inspiration with our own brew and see what we came up with; and here we are. We want to give people a source of inspiration and excitement!”

Live, Tymo has much in common with their heroes Municipal Waste. “We like to look at our shows as something to keep everyone entertained, such as having something unique happen during each song. We will have our mascot run out and mosh with the crowd and add little changes throughout each song to keep the set memorable.” Tymo’s debut album “Purge & Reset” was released in August of 2017 and is available online at all major online retailers.

Set to unleash their debut album “The Door” on October 4th, Montreal’s MESSORA are excited to share the release’s full stream via its exclusive premiere on Ghost Cult Mag HERE

“The Door” is constantly shifting between genres, and creates a visceral atmosphere that can’t be confined to a single category, be prepared to hear death, melodic, doom and progressive elements throughout the seven tracks on the album. Looking to challenge listeners, MESSORA presents an album that requires attention and an open mind, as Zach Dean quotes:

“I am trying to present fans with a record that you listen to front to back and come out of feeling different. Maybe not even different, maybe just more like yourself. The album as a whole is very varied musically while remaining focused and tight. It’s very clearly a metal album but you can hear that we want to go to different places and incorporate different influences throughout the record. Most of the songs are very long and have very complicated structures and changes, but it’s always meant to feel right and musical rather than abrupt and meaningless.”

Any metal lover who craves proggy and dark music especially along the lines of OpethPsycroptic, and Gojira will find MESSORA to their liking.

Formed as a solo recording project in 2016 in Montréal, Québec, Messora has become a band that obscures and challenges genres. To the band, the music comes as what feels best in the moment. To the fans, it is a kaleidoscope of sound that appears different at every glance and to every eye.

Messora has been described as Death Metal, Black Metal, Thrash Metal, Progressive Metal, Melodic Metal, and Doom Metal by fans and showgoers. The elements that make up the music may seem familiar to some, yet the whole remains a challenge to define.

The band knows how to set themselves apart from others musically as well as aesthetically, with showmanship and presentation second only to musical performance during their live show. They demand attention with their presentation but keep it with the strength of their performance and musicianship. Having shared the stage with bands such as Carach Angren, Mors Principium Est, and Wolfheart, Messora always delivers, visually, aesthetically and musically.

When the album is at its fiercest, I get a distinct GOJIRA vibe…those hard as ice riffs, sterile vocals, and punishing sound.” 8/10 – Metal Temple“Messora constantly find new directions, evolving their music from one side to the other and back. The fact they can do it flawlessly is a joy [8/10] ” – Metal Noise

“The music is technical, brutal, thoughtful, and emotional; taking the listener on a singular journey to the recesses of your mind… This is music for your ears and soul, so purchase and stream the album at the links below.” – Ghost Cult Mag

“The Door is one record you certainly check out if you want nothing but solid tracks all the way through. This record will certainly put Messora on the metal map.” – Metal Utopia
“Promising career start for the Canadian quartet” – Broken Tomb Magazine

“truly exceptionally talented musicianship that is simply a heavy work of art.” – Boston Rock Radio“Combining a variety of genres, the group made good impressions on those who shows up early with their tight musicianship and ability to change pace on a moment’s notice” – Apt 613

“… Messora was a whirlwind on stage. It was hard to believe that a half hour had passed when they began to play their final song, as each song had layered onto each other leaving viewers with a feeling that the experience was almost surreal.”- Splice Media Group

Less than a year after the release of their full length debut album, Topheth Ablaze, the faceless fiends of Plague Pit have returned. This time they bring with them a four track EP of unspeakable horrors, a collection of songs that hunger for your soul, whose malice and bitter hatred radiates from every note. Labyrinthine is a gateway to hell and to listen to these howling invocations of chaos is to welcome the essence of darkness into your heart.
Since the soulless entities of Plague Pit first made their pact unto each other in 2016 their legend has been spreading like poison through the deepest reaches of the underground. The madness of Topheth Ablaze was passed in whispers, but now the whispers will become screams as the terror of Labyrinthine is unleashed. Binding sounds inspired by the death metal gods to visions of towering terror with chains of arcane knowledge, the dwellers of the Plague Pit have created a release of staggering power and insurmountable force. This is twisted, grotesque death metal of the blackest kind, a bestial roar of unearthly rage.

Plague Pit are the nameless devils of your nightmares, the unseen adversaries who leave you paralyzed with fear and Labyrinthine is an all out assault on your sanity. Plague Pit do not exist for your entertainment, they exist to consume you. These warped riffs, howling solos and relentless, battering drums are an open invitation to your end. There is no disguise and no pretence, just a seething mass of hatred, driven to destroy .
