Swedish Melodic Black Metal Combo EOSPHORUS Return With Their New EP “From Fire Into Birth”

Swedish Melodic Black Metal Combo EOSPHORUS re-newed their collaboration with Wormholedeath for the release of their EP “From Fire Into Birth”, which will be available on July 29th, 2022.

The band speaking of the album stated: After almost 8 years of working on other projects and records, new material has surfaced from Eosphorus! This new EP saw the beginning of its creation shortly after the release of Winds of Apep but we just didn’t have the time to complete it until now. We think it will be worth the wait for those who want to hear a more developed, more sinister Eosphorus.
With this release we are sparking yet another rebirth of this band, with more material already on hold and waiting to take form it’s only a matter of sorting out logistics and time to have it manifest into something great. Still breathing, still brewing…
A big thanks to Wormholedeath for wanting to work with us again, and believing in our music. They are a rare breed in this industry and it shows in their devotion and care for their bands.

Eosphorus is a band from Stockholm, Sweden founded in 2006-2008 by Markus Svantesson(Bödel) on lead guitar and Oliver Spetse (ex-Bödel) on guitars and vocals. While in the early years of the band, members have come and gone with only Oliver and Markus still remaining as original members and founders. The core line-up of Eosphorus was established when Joel Haegerström(Purified By Pain, Bödel) joined on bass guitar and Victor Parri(Desolator, Hadriel, Isole, Neuronaut, The Curse, Valkyrja) joined on drums in 2010. There have been no line-up changes since then.
With their first album “We who’ve seen the darkness”, which reminisces of Dissection, Watain, and older black metal with melodic passages, they set their sights on making the album in a way that best embodies the band, an album that would later be called “Winds of Apep”. Released by WormholeDeath in 2014 it received critical acclaim by journalists and listeners alike for its melodic nature and shifting between fast and slow passages and variety in tracks.

Austrian Dark Metal Phenomenon KRANKHEIT Sign With Wormholedeath

We are honored to announce that Austrian Dark Metal outfit KRANKHEIT have signed a licensing deal with Wormholedeath for their album “Gargantua”, which will be released on September 30th, 2022.

After four years, two of them dominated by a pandemic and a challenging anniversary, with internal band restructuring, KRANKHEIT are back with a new album. “Gargantua”, the successor to the third work “Zerberus”, sings about the dark sides and abysses in a typical KRANKHEIT manner and forms a mirror of the current events of our contemporary history.
It is named after the character Gargantua from the novels by François Rabelais. An insatiable giant who vomits in greed and gluttony on the people and depicts a pastiche of them. KRANKHEIT manage to stay true to their trademarks and at the same time venture into new musical realms. Martially driving guitar riffs as in “Kommunikation” reflect the usual catchy level of hardness of the band. Lyrically, the most important and most burning topic of all at the moment is put to the test here in the programmatically titled piece. Songs like “Gargantua” and “Müll” show that it’s becoming even more aggressive in general, which are interspersed with blast beats and shredding guitars. With “Bett des Prokrustes” and “Ave Maria” KRANKHEIT show again that they are masters of their craft and plant themselves excellently in well-known classical compositions. The symbiosis between classic and dark metal is extensively celebrated and driven to extremes by “Neid” with its brutal ending. There are bluesy touches in “Exorzist”to which Andres Vargas, singer of the black metal band “Thy Antichrist”, lends his haunting voice. The limits of the interpersonal relationship demons get a new face here. “Gargantua” takes the creation of KRANKHEIT to the next level and prepares the ground for an eventful and complex future.

To fans who pre-order the whole album, the single for “Kommunikation” become available!!

Founded in 2011, the Austrian dark metal band KRANKHEIT are gradually working their way into the metal/goth scene. It is characteristic of the band’s style to resurrect old pieces and melodies from bygone eras (e.g. Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, etc.) and to combine them with the very own KRANKHEIT sound.
Earlier press comment on the band’s sound:
“…this results in completely independent songs that break all categorization boundaries and give birth to something unique…” Orkus Magazin (GER)
After the first three albums “Sanatorium” (2013), “Saat des Bösen” (2016), and “Zerberus” (2018), they take the next hit into the abyss of humanity with “Gargantua” (2022).
The grotesque and highly acclaimed live performances with bands such as Nachtblut, Ost+Front, and Megaherz, as well as numerous festivals such as “Nova Rock”, “Hexentanz Festival”, “Die Elbe brennt” and many more also give them a solid reputation brought in as a band that not only delivers show after show, but also a band whose stage performance resonates long after a concert is over.
Earlier press comment on the band’s live performances:
“The abstract, zombie-like performance and the scary, menacing appearance of the musicians immediately create a very unique atmosphere.” Musikmag.de (GER)

A Journey into Another Realm. An Interview With Nikolette Olsson of After Evolution

I recently had the pleasure of talking with Nikolette Olsson, composer, singer, pianist and founder of the band After Evolution. We discussed the bands new album, her writing technique and I discovered she has a book in the works.

The band hails from the Czech Republic, their genre is symphonic metal and upon initially listening to their new single “War of The Worlds” I discovered Nikolette’s voice is on point, velvety smooth, powerful and very melodic. The band began its formation after Nikolette met Michael in 2013, the rest of the band followed soon after and from there After Evolution was born.

After Evolution’s new album “War of The Worlds” is a concept album. It tells a story about the artist’s carrying a bond between themselves, melodies of the dark, light, life, death, hope and despair. Piece by piece the band has interconnected each single memory into one and they have been written as melody and poetry weaved with ancient stories of other worlds.

Vinyl Lair: What bands/musicians did you listen to as a kid?

Nikolette: For most of us it was Nightwish but for me personally Nightwish, Evanescence and classical music.

Vinyl Lair: What accomplishments do you see the band achieving in the next 5 to 10 years?

Nikolette: Oh we would love to play in the Wacken open air and some other great festivals like that! To have our own rehearsal room like a garage or something. Also we would love to be on the same level of fame as the big metal bands. Thats how we would love to see us in 5 years to 10 years!

Vinyl Lair: What’s the best piece of advice another musician gave to you?

Nikolette: “Never give up, believe in yourself” That’s the best one! 😀

Vinyl Lair: When writing music do you write the lyrics first or the music first?

Nikolette: The music is first. I mean I have already written a story so I know the mood of the songs, but I write the music and the melodies first and then I match the lyrics to the music.

Vinyl Lair: Tell me about your new album?

Nikolette: Our new album has a whole story, each song is a part of the story and it is about a world far far away, about apocalypse, demons and magic…I also wanted to combine epic orchestras, metal, growls and female vocals. We have heavy guitars together and are making something a little bit different even if it is symphonic metal, but more epic.

Vinyl Lair: What kind of food does the band eat while on tour?

Nikolette: Everyone of us prefer different cuisine, but when we were on tour and got hungry we ordered a big pizza 😀

Vinyl Lair: Who would you like to go on tour with?

Nikolette: Oh, one day we would love to tour with bands like Amaranthe, Epica, Nightwish…We do not have some exact wish but it would be great to play with big bands like that. My dream is to go on a tour with Evanescence because Amy inspired me to compose and sing. So that would be very cool.

Vinyl Lair: What hobbies do you like to do on your off time?

Nikolette: I love digital art, so I draw. I love video games. I grew up playing a lot of video because its something I used to do with my father. I also like watching movies and new series, I love reading conspiracy theories, and other books. I am also writing a book in my free time.

Vinyl Lair: You’re writing a book? Thats interesting! Can you tell me what its about?

Nikolette: Of course. It is connected to the story of the band. I created the story a long time ago to give my band some depth and meaning and I wrote it into the lyrics. But then I realized that I wanted to get into more detail and in the songs there is not enough space to get into such detail so I began writing the book. The book (as well as the lyrics) is about a girl who is supposed to connect to the Earth and the underground together because a long time ago there was an apocalypse, a war between two worlds , the demon world and the world of humankind. People wanted more and more power so thats the reason the war began. The story is about a journey of a girl who meets 3 demons on her way who help her to bring balance and restore life. The rest is in the songs, how her journey is going, what she’s learned etc. and the book is much more detailed about the life of her sister, parents, and the underground as well.

Vinyl Lair: That sounds really deep. I look forward to reading it! Is there anything else you would like to say to your fans?

Nikolette: Thank you so much for your support and time you are giving to us! It means a lot to me and to the band. We appreciate it a lot! We are looking forward to seeing all of you soon! Love you all!

Vinyl Lair: Its been a real pleasure talking with you and getting to know more about you Nikolette. Your music is great and you are such a beautiful singer. I wish you the best of luck with your music career!

Nikolette: Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!

DALI VAN GOGH’s EP ‘New Blood, Old Wounds’ & ‘Savanna’ Official Video Out Now!

Dali Van Gogh are:
Rachelle Moreau – Lead Vocal / Keytar
Isaac Kent – Guitar
Lance Hicks – Bass
Johnny Moore – Drums

Canadian hard rock band Dali Van Gogh are pleased to present: “New Blood, OId Wounds”, out now via Wormholedeath Records.

Dali Van Gogh is a female-fronted Hard Rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia. They are known for their showmanship, originality, and musicianship, and have performed across Canada, releasing 4 prior records over the last decade“New Blood, Old Wounds” is produced by the like of Eric Ratz (The Arkells, Billy Talent) and Rob Laidlaw (Platinum Blonde, Honeymoon Suite) and includes 5 new songs by the band, all conceived of and recorded during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“This record is really a product of everything we have been through as a band over the last couple of years”, says Isaac Kent, guitarist and founder of the band. “The first song was written just as everything in Canada was locking down for the first time, with the final song coming together just as we were coming out of the latest, and hopefully final lock down. It reflects every emotion we felt during that time, from fear and misery to determination and even joy.”

Kent blames this largely on the united band lineup as a whole, which includes Lance Hicks on bass, Johnny Moore on drums, and Rachelle Moreau as lead vocalist.

In a time where all of our peers and friends in the industry were closing up shop and waiting for this to all blow over, we as a group came together and persevered through every day. During the worst of it, we were on regular skype meetings and live streams from our homes. When possible we would get together to practice and even managed to squeeze in a few small shows when restrictions allowed it. We recorded remotely and separately from each other, mixed with engineers and producers who we never met face to face. We created what I think is our best record to date under the worst possible circumstances purely out of sheer will to not give in and let this situation derail us. I’m very proud of everyone in the band and on our crew.”

Alongside the release, Dali Van Gogh have dropped thenew music video for “Savanna”, the 3rd single off of the new EP. Written about a past relationship gone sour, Savanna is the first song written primarily by Rachelle Moreau, who was promoted to lead vocalist in the band last summer.

“Savanna is written about an old friend of mine from years ago,” says Moreau. “She was very close with not just myself but also my whole group of friends. At some point I came to the realization of how toxic she had become, and I wanted to remove myself from the situation. I remember feeling scared that I would be left out of the group because I cut ties with her, but it instead became a domino effect of people cutting her out. Sometimes it’s hard to see how negatively someone is effecting your life until they’re gone and it feels like a weight has been lifted. For whatever reason….”

The video for “Savanna” is produced by Marquis Williams, aka Keke Beatz, a prominent Nova Scotian director known primarily for his work with hip hop artists. You can check it out here:

Dali Van Gogh will tour extensively in support of “New Blood, Old Wounds” into 2023, with plans to perform in Europe, Japan, Australia, and of course at home in North America. To enquire about upcoming shows, or to book the band in your city, please email contactus@dalivangoghmusic.com and their team will direct you to the appropriate booking/ticketing agency for your region.

Dali Van Gogh are proudly endorsed by sE Electronics, Los Cabos Drums Sticks, Soultone Cymbals, and One Bone Clothing. The band signed with Wormholedeath earlier this year. Learn more about the band at Dali Van Gogh Music.

Swedish Melodic Metal Sensation MILE Sign With Wormholedeath & Release “Into the Fire” Single

Swedish Melodic Metal sensation MILE have signed a deal with Wormholedeath for the release of their new upcoming album “A Shattered Mind”. More info coming soon!

MILE is a melodic metal band from Sweden that has a modern sound mixing heavy metal and hard rock, combining heavy riffs and attractive melodies. The band started to take form in 2013 through Marcus “Masken” Karlsson (vocals), Fredrik Palm (guitar), and Marcus Folke (bass) when their old band “Cabinett” broke up. Dennis Kjellgren (drums) and David “Dave” Wallberg (guitar) were soon to follow and join this new project that was to be called “MILE”. A name that is simple to remember, does not put the band in any specific category of music, and can represent the distance the music can take you. They rehearsed and wrote songs for a whole year before they started playing live because they knew what quality they wanted to show right from the start. In 2015 one of the founding members, bass player Marcus Folke left the band and the group was complemented by Niklas “Nike” Tidholm, who added an extra dimension to their live performance.

Their debut album “Lost” was released in December 2015 and was streamed over 1 000 000 times during its first year. In September 2016 the band released their first music video together with the single “Dressed in Black”. Their second album “The World in Focus” was released in January 2018 and had, just as its predecessor, been streamed over 1 000 000 times long before its anniversary. It also contained the hit single “Crying in Your Sleep” which ended up on several major playlists on Spotify. The album was followed by a release tour in Brazil before the band got back home for the Swedish festival summer. The band always gives 110% on stage and never leaves the crowd unaffected. They are ready to keep on growing and show the world that MILE is a force to be reckoned with.

The band has played festivals where giants like Twisted Sister and Europe have been present but MILE have also been supporting Dynazty, Cyhra, Smash into Pieces, Implode, Ammotrack, and Mean Streak. In 2019 they went on a successful European tour as support for Corroded right before the pandemic struck. Today MILE is closing in on 10 000 000 streams on Spotify and has through hard work been able to keep the steam up while preparing the upcoming third album.

In 2019 the band joined forces with Kingart Music Management to reach new heights, and now they are happy to join the Wormholedeath family!

MILE lineup :
Marcus “Masken” Karlsson – Vocals
Fredrik Palm – Guitar
David “Dave” Wallberg – Guitar
Dennis Kjellgren – Drums
Niklas “Nike” Tidholm – Bass

To celebrate the occasion, the band has released their first single “Into the Fire”

Dutch Metal Rockers BLACK NAZARETH Sign With Wormholedeath & Release “Drops Of Sorrow” Single

Dutch Metal Rockers BLACK NAZARETH have signed a licensing deal with Wormholedeathfor their self titled album “Black Nazareth”, due for release on July 8th, 2022.

After releasing all of the songs as singles, the band felt it was time to gather all of the singles into a mini album, along with a previously unreleased song. Black Nazareth’s self-titled “Black Nazareth” is a masterpiece of pure and adrenaline-pumping rock!

It was in 2017 that Menno Gootjes approached Henry McIlveen with some ideas for a metal/rock album. As they previously worked together successfully in Threnody it was like a coming home to start writing together again. Even though this new project seemed far away from the pioneering progressive metal they made with Threnody it was experimental in every way. With the passing of every session slowly the focus of the project started to shift in a more rock-oriented approach. It was time to find some vocals!
End of 2018 Daniël de Jongh joined the team. Daniël past experience with progressive metal heroes Textures and other rock projects gave him a fitting profile for where the music was leading.
The road to completion was a long one. Menno’s engagements with the progressive rock veterans of Focus kept him on the road for extended periods. It wasn’t until end of 2019 that Martijn Spierenburg joined the band. The sound needed something more and Martijn’s experience with the hit scoring symphonic metal band Within Temptation gave that much extra. We had a line-up!
The name Black Nazareth is related to the city, Schiedam, where we started. The nickname of Schiedam is “Black Nazareth”. Schiedam is a city in the west of the Netherlands. It is located in the Rotterdam metropolitan area, west of Rotterdam and south of Delft. The city is known for its historical center with canals, and for having the tallest windmills in the world. Schiedam is also well known for the distilleries and malthouses and production of jenever (gin) so much so that in French and English the word schiedam (usually without a capital s-) refers to the town’s Holland gin. This was the town’s main industry during the early Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th century, a dark period to which it owed its former nickname “Zwart Nazareth” or “Black Nazareth”. It is uncertain what the real origin is from this name but legend has it that the city was blackened of all the coal, the citizens where drunk of the alcohol fumes and god had forsaken the town. “What good can come from Nazareth?” (John 1:46).
The band realised that releasing music during a global pandemic wasn’t most ideal, but waiting for another year was also not an option, so the group decided to release a song every month for the time being, and every release was to be followed by a video-clip. January 2021 the first video for Rivers Run Deep was out. Next releases followed up to end of August 2021. And writing sessions still continued even during lockdowns, remote writing meetings work too.
November 2021, a drink was presented named after the band; Black Nazareth No.3, Genuine Dutch Genever. Originally crafted in Schiedam, Holland and infused with the best elements to make a legendary drink. This genever is traditionally distilled by Serious Bee Distillers with the finest ingredients: malted barley, rye, corn, wheat, juniper berry, ginger, clove, raspberry leaf, elderflower, honey and vanilla.
End of 2021 the band entered into an agreement with Wormholedeath Records from Italy. A mini album with all singles up till now including one new unreleased song.

[Official Lyric Video]

The song is about the loneliness of goodbye, about realising you are left behind. After a person passes, after a pet dies, after a loved one leaves, after your partner leaves you, after your friend disappears, the moment you realise you are now alone. The grief hits you, the loneliness embraces you, and tears fall. You think about the moments passed, the moments missed, and the time taken for granted. Mourning and lament is mainly in the little things everyone knows, no big drama, it is in the details that amplifies the sadness of everything you miss. You look at the past, the memories hit you. You cry out their name, while you sit here in the rain

Female Fronted Symphonic Metal Band AFTER EVOLUTION Sign With Wormholedeath

Female fronted symphonic metal discovery AFTER EVOLUTION have signed a licensing deal with Wormholedeath for their album “War Of The Worlds”, which is due for release on June 17th, 2022.

You may ask, “who are they? where did they come from?” and the answer is simple. we came here to the earth from far away, to tell you the story about our world and how we have been born in this one.
the each of us have been reborn in different year, different time, under the different star, moon and sun to connect our destinies in one.
We are the storytellers, ancestors, wanderers of the universe and time, the artists carrying bond between the melodies of the dark and light, death and life, hope and despair and fire and ice …
We are the After Evolution.
The way of finding each other was not easy at all. Everything started one day, when Nikolette met Michael. They knew their meeting meant much more but for the whole reveal of the truth they needed to find the remaining two reborned.
It was the year of 2013 when Nikolette and Michael started with collecting the shards of memories before the big reborn. Piece by piece and part by part of single memory has been written into melody and poetry connected in one. Nikolette and Michael met a lot of souls astray but neither one was the one of the reborned. So after some time they just went by their own path of life.
When the year of 2016 appeared, Michael and Nikolette decided to reveal the part of their threnodies to the world. People loved their melodies accompanied with ancient stories of the other world so they continued with writing more and more of their story. Also by the end of the same year Nikolette with Michael found the third reborned named Adam, so they continued they journey side by side. The melodies of past have been spread really fast so a lot of big and well known collectors of great ancient stories, art and melodies wanted to help to the After Evolution on their path and spread their stories to whole the world. So Nikolette, Michael and Adam with another soul astray agreed and decided to travel to the great Italy to imprint their story connected with dark melodies and ancient power into memory of the world forever.
It was the year of 2018, the hot summer days, when After Evolution finished the big reveal of the truth and with last drop of the ink on the paper they finished the last note in the big part of their story and their past. Unfortunately that soul astray was not ready for the journey of the After Evolution, so he left when he saw the path and went his own way. The path got really complicated. But they didnt give up and continued on their way even if it was full of thorns and pain. They followed their destiny.
On their journey to imprint their story written in melodies to eternity of the world, they met a brave traveller named Ilya, who helped them to finish the rest of their journey and fight the monsters along the way. At the end of the path, he went his own way and After Evolution went on the expedition to find the last lost reborn. The missing piece of the After Evolution.
Later that year of 2018 the fourth lost reborn, vitek has been found and continued his journey along with the rest of the reborned, After Evolution and their destiny have been fulfilled. They were able to connect all the shards of their memories and finish the story of the ancient world they came from. They found out who they truly are and about their true abilities.
With the time going by, there were a lot of thieves of ancient art who wanted to steal some of their magic and treasures they had, but it never really happened, the things got just a little bit complicated during the protection of their secrets. After Evolution finished their whole story and they have collected and connected with their ancient power all shards of memories together. All that creation was so exhausting for them that After Evolution fell into the deep rest and recovery to gain the energy again and summon all the power and inspiration back to them. When the dark times dissapeared, After Evolution, with clear mind and full of energy were ready to accept their destiny and share their story with the world and spread the enchanting melodies again.
With year of 2022 they shared with the world the story about the big war from the ancient world and the war of the worlds chants floated by the world

Music inspiration :
My inspiration is in epic orchestral music like movie or game soundtracks for example – Two steps from hell, Audiomachine, Hans Zimmer, Ivan Torrent etc. I was fascinated by Evanescence, Nightwish, Within Temptation and Epica because they connected the orchestras and the metal elements and I really liked that. So I knew I wanted to play symphonic metal but more symphonic, more like epic orchestral metal, so every instrument like guitars, drums and also vocals are composed on the orchestral base not the opposite.

Concept :
Everyone was asking us “what does AFTER EVOLUTION means?” and I didnt know why they are asking me that to be honest bcs I have never saw asking someone Nightwish what their name means. But I told myself „okay, I will give my band the meaning“ and I created a whole story about who we are and what is our music about. I love fantasy stories and most of my time I am in clouds with my head so why not. So I started to creating a storyboard and slowly connecting the story with the music.
Development :
I created whole the story in about 2 weeks and then the music work was next on the list, so I have separated the parts of the story to 11 sections to create 11 music parts for the album. I stopped at each section and imagined the feelings of the main character, the enviroment and what is happening and I tried to feel everything as if I was there to match the music and orchestras with that feeling of the story. When I have created the orchestras I had already in my head the melody of the vocals and some idea how the guitars and drums should sound. When that was ready I came back to the paper sheet where I have written what is this part about and I’ve started with writing the lyrics. It is really my favourite part because I love writing in contrasts if it is possible and some poetic riddles to think about for example : „red roses are falling down on the cold white snow“ means in my style of writing : falling blood on the ground – I really love making that kind of texts if I have a space for that. Some texts are just describing what is happening and the story and some are more poetic, it really depends on the mood of the song. So that is how I am developing and making the music and its concept etc.

Weaving their way between the multitudes of different genres that influence them, the trio visits the worlds of heavy progressive rock and expansive ambient shoegaze. To date the band has released 3 EPs, “To The Astronaut…” (2012); “Somnus” (2013) and “For the Satellites” (2015) with “The Stratosphere Beneath Our Feet” as their 2018 debut full length.

In addition to the news of their label signing, the band released a new video for the track Our Hands Part The Waves’,  which you can view here

The video is a continuation of the storyline presented in their previous video for ‘It’s All In The Reflexes’, which you can view here.

The trio will also be returning to Eastern Canada this October with eight gigs spanning across Ontario and Quebec followed by UK dates in November. After a busy summer of writing and European festival dates, the Scottish band is excited to come back to the homeland of their bassist Robert Hasebe and he quotes:

“Touring Canada is by far one of the most enjoyable things for Atlas : Empire. The unique challenges and rewards of touring this part of the world are what make Canadian artists and performers truly great. They are not only so wonderful to work with but also so friendly and exceptional at their craft. Canada produces so many good bands and such talented musicians that we are so fortunate and so grateful to be able to tour here regularly. Also, poutine.”

BIO:

Atlas : Empire are a progressive alternative rock band, based in Glasgow, UK. Since forming in 2011, Atlas : Empire have enjoyed success both through their recordings and over several tours crossing the UK, the EU and Eastern Canada, including performing at Indieweek in Toronto.

To date the band has released 3 EPs, “To The Astronaut…” (2012); “Somnus” (2013) and “For the Satellites” (2015) with “The Stratosphere Beneath Our Feet”, an ambitious concept album set to be released in 2018.

Weaving their way between the multitudes of different genres that influence them, Atlas : Empire visits the worlds of heavy progressive rock and expansive ambient shoegaze. Exploring topics that centralize around the concept of becoming exponentially more reliant on technology and less “connected” by proxy, and the future of modern society when the system we rely on fails. With a slew of songs written and plans already for a fifth release, A : E are thrilled to be working with the team at WormHoleDeath and to push their own boundaries and expand into new territories.
